Coming Soon: Safe & Together – Domestic & Family Violence Resources for ICLs

In exciting news National Legal Aid have engaged the services of the Safe & Together Institute to develop customised DFV e-courses exclusively for ICLs to be made available via the national ICL website.

In 2021 the FCFCOA engaged the Safe & Together Institute to deliver court-wide domestic violence training to Judges, Registrars and CCEs. The training is based on the Safe & Together Model™ developed by global expert David Mandel.

The Safe & Together model is a child-centred domestic violence framework encompassing a set of practice tools, principles, and concepts designed to innovate how to approach domestic violence and children.  It utilises a common language and framework to coordinate practice within and across agencies and sectors.

The following customised program of ICL e-courses are currently in development by the Safe & Together Institute:

  • Safe & Together: An introduction to the model
  • Multiple Pathways to Harm: A comprehensive assessment framework
  • Intersections: When domestic violence perpetration, substance abuse, and mental health meet

The customised e-courses will guide ICLs in applying the DFV training to their role and equip ICLs with the common language and framework of the Safe & Together model utilised by Judges, Registrars and CCEs.

The e-courses will be available on the ICL website in early 2025. Stay tuned for further details.
