Catch up On Demand: Seeing the whole child - Emerging Minds ICL Learning Series, Webinar 1 - recording now available

News Webinar

The National ICL Program, in partnership with Emerging Minds, has launched a new trauma-informed learning series designed to strengthen ICLs confidence, skills and understanding in representing children.

Delivered through a combination of online and in-person sessions, the learning series promotes a shared, evidence-informed approach to understanding children’s mental health and wellbeing, the impacts of trauma and practical strategies for engaging with and supporting children. The series is designed to help ICLs ensure children feel safe, heard and understood.

The first webinar in the learning series, Seeing the Whole Child: Understanding Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing for ICLs, is now available as a recording on the ICL website.

Tailored specifically for ICLs, this 90-minute webinar is designed to build confidence in supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing. The session defines what child mental health means by clarifying misconceptions and examines the main factors that influence a child’s wellbeing. The session introduces an ecological 'whole child' perspective, enabling ICLs to better consider the wider context when meeting with children.

ICLs will leave with practical, trauma-informed strategies to support effective engagement and a deeper understanding of children’s mental health and wellbeing, along with a clearer sense of how the 'whole child' approach supports the child’s best interests.

To access the recording, along with accompanying resources, log in to your ICL website account and navigate to the Courses page under the Emerging Minds ICL Learning Series category.
